Samsung’s latest flagship the Galaxy S5 launched with a 1080p display, despite the rumours in the months leading up to the phone’s debut claiming that Samsung was working on a pair of handsets, and one of them would feature a Quad HD (2K) display. Even after this didn’t happen, we tried to keep our hopes up, but once CEO J.K. Shin got involved and dismissed the rumors of such a project, we started to lose faith. But could there still be something to all this? Today new evidence of a Super charged-up, high-res version of the GS5 arrives, courtesy of the GFXBench benchmark database.
This new Samsung device has cropped up on GFXBench’s device list. The device goes by the name SM-G906S, which is quite similar to the Galaxy S5 model name (SM-G900 for the international Snapdragon-powered version).
This SM-G906S appears to sport a 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 display (2K – 1440p) , Runs on Snapdragon 805 chipset with a quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 450, Adreno 420 and 3GB of RAM. Other details include 32GB of storage and a 16MP Main camera and 2MP Front Camera. The device is running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.
Since Samsung’s CEO J.K. Shin denied the existence of a “PREMIUM” Galaxy S5, it might turn out to be an entirely different device; this maybe the Galaxy F? We’ll have to wait and see. Stay tuned as we will let you know as the story progresses.
